The Absence of Color

These are my first attempts at black and white photos.  Enjoy and feel free to comment as you feel fit.

The Second Three to Be Critiqued (Just Kidding)

This was going to be my second three for critique but I changed my mind and decided to go a different way.  Enjoy all the same though.

 A little swirlyness
 ISO 100; 23mm; f/22; 1 sec
 Some up close lichen
 ISO 100; 55mm; f/5.6; 1/25 sec
A nifty little waterfall
ISO 100; 30mm; f/29; 1/4 sec

Here are a few pika-tures of birds I took because birds are fun and the grouse was begging for it.

Black & White Ideas

I have always been a huge fan of Black and White photography.  The patterns and contrast make me very happy.  So as my abilities and what not progress with digital photography I would like to be able to produce shots like the ones below.  I found some helpful tips online to assist with this so I would like to share the link to those here to whomever would like to take a gander.
